Video Audition

Admission to AMDA requires an audition. You must be a junior or senior in high school or a high school graduate for your audition to be considered for acceptance into the undergraduate degree and certificate programs and for merit-based scholarships.

AMDA encourages all applicants to take advantage of our live in person or virtual auditions. Our live auditions allow applicants to work directly with an AMDA audition coach. For those unable to attend our live auditions, we offer the ability to submit a pre-recorded audition video. Below you will find the instructions for how to prepare and submit a video audition.

We recommend submitting your video audition as soon as possible to not delay the process of joining the AMDA family. If you have any questions, our team of admissions representatives are available to assist you through the audition and application process.

Contact Information: AdmissionsTeam@amda.edu or 323-490-1284.

HOW TO RECORD

Please use the highest quality recording equipment available to you. For best results, place your recording device on a stationary object, such as a tripod or table. Prior to recording, test that you are in focus and well lit, and that your video is free from distracting background noise. Please note: If you are submitting for AMDA’s Dance Theatre programs, do not tape a close-up; please have your entire body (from head to toe) in the frame.

ONCE YOU ARE READY TO RECORD YOUR PERFORMANCE, START YOUR RECORDING DEVICE AND STATE:
  • The date you are recording your audition
  • Your full name
  • The city and country where you live
  • The program for which you are applying
  • The titles of the pieces you will perform

When you are finished with your audition performance, please announce that you have reached the end of the submission, restate your name, and stop your recording device.
