Michael Deragon is an interdisciplinary instructor and professional artist - working as a writer, composer, musician and painter. His original poetry has been featured in Yalobusha Review, Liminalities, Muzzle Magazine, Drumvoices and several other literary magazines. As a composer, he has written innovative scores for multiple movies, short films, television series, theatre and dance performances, typically utilizing a collage technique that involves electronic sounds, organic live instruments, field recordings, found sounds and children's toys. For over 15 years, Michael has performed as a guitarist in professional bands and exhibited his collage paintings in galleries across the country. Michael creates a learning environment in his classes that promotes a sense of play and critical thinking, which encourages students to develop a high level of observation and communication skills.
