Andrew Pearson is a dance and movement-based educator, performer, and creator hailed as "one of LA's finest dance artists" (LA Dance Chronicle) and "known as a provocative choreographer and imaginative presenter" (Cultural Weekly). Andrew has performed as a guest artist with BodyTraffic, String Theory, LA Philharmonic, MOCA, as well as international engagements with the FIAC Art Faire in Paris and the Centre du Pompidou in Spain. He also enjoyed a 7-year career with the LA Contemporary Dance Company with whom he performed, choreographed, and taught classes for, both locally and internationally.
Andrew is the founder and creative director of Bodies in Play, a creative platform developed to interrogate existing models for producing dance and performance. Bodies in Play has been called a "vision Pearson has gifted the community of dance by offering a new approach to dance theater that has transformative properties for the future of dance as a performing art" (LA Dance Review). Through Bodies in Play, Andrew has produced performances that have been presented at Highways Performance Space, LA Dance Festival, LA Dance Project, The Center on Halsted in Chicago, ODC in San Francisco, and the GdaĆsk Dance Festival in Poland.
He currently serves as the Assistant Director of Saint Mary's College of California's LEAP Program and has been teaching dance, movement and performance for over 10 years.
