Giovanni Ortega (AEA, SAG-AFTRA, SDC). Directing credits include Nicky, a modernized adaptation of Chekhov's Ivanov; Halo Halo (Third Culture Theatre), Angel from Manila (Echo Theater), Lena Passes (Pasadena Playhouse) Scrimmage (East West Players), The Hotel Play (A.D., Center Theatre Group/ Playwrights' Arena), La Madre de Todos los Exilios (La Casa Tercer Acto, Bogotá), Cabaret, Spring Awakening - The Musical, Urinetown. In Singapore, Giovanni directed The Body Series, Evolution, Kabaret Singapura at Haque Centre of Acting and Creativity. Poetry Festival Singapore commissioned Giovanni to write/direct original plays Benches and Palindromes, followed by films Belonging, Atlas and Nomads. Playwright credits: The Butterfly of Chula Vista (San Diego Rep commission), Criers for Hire, ALLOS and Sama Sama: Solidarity in the Fields (East West Players commission). Giovanni performed in Dreams, A Musical (Hawaii Theatre), Zenaida (AFI Film Festival), Aswang Song Cycle, President Marcos in Imelda, The Musical (East West Players), Romance of Magno Rubio. Giovanni is currently the Artistic Director for FilAm Arts Teatro.
