AMDA CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH - FEBRUARY 2021

Today, February 1, marks the start of Black History Month – a time specifically set aside by our nation to celebrate the history and innumerable achievements and contributions made by Black Americans to our culture, society, and country. It is a time for all of us to recommit ourselves personally and as a community to equality, diversity, inclusion, and justice.

As we celebrate Black History this month, let us ensure that we do not focus merely on 28 days in February. Let us open our hearts, ears, and eyes and center Black History each day of the year, because we know that Black History Happens Every Day.

As a community of artists, let us all amplify the work of Black Artists and Creators, continue to honor the accomplishments of Black Artists who have shaped our communities, culture, and country, and recognize the truly amazing work being done by our own AMDA Community of Black Artists – students, faculty, and alumni.

We can support our Community of Black Artists by joining the following events as we gather together as a community (Registration links for all events will be made available to all AMDA Community members via email in the coming weeks):

Black History Month Virtual Performance: “Unspeakable Joy”
