Gap Program Demonstration Materials

Once accepted into our Gap Program, students must submit demonstration materials to gauge level and potential in your chosen discipline. Please use the highest quality recording equipment available to you. For best results, place your recording device on a stationary object, such as a table. Please note that all videos will be used for scholarship consideration.

Please submit your demonstration materials as soon as possible following your application.

  • What to include:
    • Start your recording device and state:
      • Your full name
      • The session you are applying for.
      • The date of your placement recording.
    • Performance requirements
      • Please prepare 60-90 seconds (or 32 bars) of a song from Musical Theatre or Pop/Contemporary repertoire and a 60-90 second monologue. The song selection should demonstrate engaged storytelling performed with proficient pitch, tone, diction and vocal clarity. The monologue selection should demonstrate a connection to the character’s emotional life, clear physical choices and a solid understanding of the text.
    • When you are finished with your demonstration materials, please announce that you have "reached the end of the submission," restate your name, and stop your recording device.
    • When your placement video is complete, upload it to an UNLISTED YouTube link (instructions) and email this link directly to gapvideo@amda.edu with "AMDA Gap Demonstration Video: Your name, campus, and semester" in the subject line. For example: "Gap Demonstration Video: Sally Smith, New York, Summer 2021".

If you have problems uploading your Unlisted video to YouTube, please go to here for help, or contact AMDA's Gap Programs Office Directly at gap@amda.edu

* Unlisted videos

"Making a video unlisted means that only people who have the link to the video can view it. To share an unlisted video, just share the link with the people who you'd like to have access to it, and they'll then be able to see it. Unlike private videos, the people you share the video with do not need to have a Google account to see the video, and they can share with more people simply by forwarding the link to them.

Unlisted videos won't appear in any of YouTube's public spaces, like your channel page or search results" (https://support.google.com).
